A few photos from Scientific Hatcheries

An overview of the hatchery from on top of F-system Biofilter (as retouched by Andrew S. Kane, Ph.D. <akane@umaryland.edu>). Each tank is about 1 M3 in volume with at least one computer controled outlet for feeders and a main recycle flow up to 100 l/min and a high O2 flow up to about 25 l/min at 40 ppm Oxygen. Each tanks also has air supply lines, drain fittings, etc.
Scientific Hatcheries version of high intensity fish culture. This is a typical guppy production tank with about 300,000 fish per M3. Feed inputs are in the 1.5 to 2 kg/M3/day range with FCR's in the 1.25 range. Small fish have a high metabolism per kg which means that the biomass is only about 30 kg/M3.

Tank E1 with long fing gold zebra broodstock.

Experimental Rotifer production system. Average production about 5 kg wet wt. of rotifers/day. Yeast based feed.
